My hobby, my passion

For me, my passion is guitar. Usually, i will touch the guitar at least 5 times a day! My interest in guitar started when i was 12. Iwatched bands play the solos, and i started to pick it up myself. I searched through my storeroom and found a classical guitar. Igot so elated that i started jumping around the room. i remembered the first song i learnt was Happy Birthday to you. At that time, i was still an amateur with this new instrument, and that song to me was superbly difficult. Ipractised tirelessly trying to master the song. Even during study breaks, television advertisments, i took out the guitar and practised. Determination finally brought results. i was finally able to play the song Now, i have gone far beyond the classical guitar and my parents are now considering to buy me an electric guitar! to me, it is a dream come true. I hope this guitar i get will last me a long time. This guitar has even influenced me in my CCAs and many more things in terms of my attitude. I learnt that what ever i dream to do, it will come true.

Something unusual that happened today

Today, there was an opening celebration to usher in the Lunar New Year at our very own renowned Chinatown! It was so unusual because for the very first time in the history of Chinese New Year Opening Celebration in Singapore, it was the west meeting the east! Well, the main Disney character, MICKEY, was the centre of attraction. He represents the arrival of the rat year in the Chinese Zodiac calendar.

There was an air of thrill among the people who awaited for this stunning opening. Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, graced the opening and what a pleasant surprise when Mickey and his team emerged into the scene. Children squealed in delights, adults craned their necks to catch a glimpse of the all-time favourite Disney characters. The mascots really caught everyone unexpected.

What's more that is unusual? Crrraaaaacccccck!! Firecrackers!! The law was temporary 'broken' when firecrackers exploded 'illegally' in the air! :) For me, it was simply a jaw-dropping event to catch.

Another unusual event to kick off the Lunar New Year was the appearance of over 300 fearsome yet adoarble lions to perform in the lion dance! They look exceedingly awesome. With that, the spirit of an auspicious Lunar New Year was felt all over the country.

This is Isaac from Shadowawakens.blogspot.com reporting live in Chinatown. Wishing all you who are reading...a happy rat year ahead!
