My hobby, my passion

For me, my passion is guitar. Usually, i will touch the guitar at least 5 times a day! My interest in guitar started when i was 12. Iwatched bands play the solos, and i started to pick it up myself. I searched through my storeroom and found a classical guitar. Igot so elated that i started jumping around the room. i remembered the first song i learnt was Happy Birthday to you. At that time, i was still an amateur with this new instrument, and that song to me was superbly difficult. Ipractised tirelessly trying to master the song. Even during study breaks, television advertisments, i took out the guitar and practised. Determination finally brought results. i was finally able to play the song Now, i have gone far beyond the classical guitar and my parents are now considering to buy me an electric guitar! to me, it is a dream come true. I hope this guitar i get will last me a long time. This guitar has even influenced me in my CCAs and many more things in terms of my attitude. I learnt that what ever i dream to do, it will come true.

A Moment Spent Alone Doing Something I Enjoyed

I enjoy every moment of my time out at the vast blue sea. Since Primary 3, the sea has always been my second home. Joining Sailing CCA was the best choice I've ever made so far, and till today, it still is! I'm most thankful that Victoria could continue to fufill my passion by offering Sailing as a CCA for their boys.

Though I go sailing training with a whole bunch of noisy and chatty sailors, it's a wonder that I could catch moments spent alone in the sea (actually it is when I sail last in the team :D ). I sometimes don't mind it at all because when I'm all alone( right at the back of the line), the sea comes alive right in front of me! Don't let the coach hear this, he'll skin me alive!! ;D. Being alone, I could hear the winds calling out my name, the waves splashing against my boat in delight, my sail fluttering joyfully in my company and my boat rocking to the rhythm and the beat of the sound of the sea. It may sound ridiculous to anybody reading this but to a boy who has been out in the sea for 5 year, it's really a soothing and enjoyable moment to savour.

As I become mesmerised by the strong breeze that caresses my face, I would be interrupted by, "ISAAC!!! SHEET IN and stop daydreaming!!!" This would put an end to my very special moment alone with the sea. As I sheet in (pulling in the rope to speed up), I'll always bid farewell to that moment I enjoy doing alone and I'll look forward to catching the next moment I could be alone with the vast blue sea again.

Something unusual that happened today

Today, there was an opening celebration to usher in the Lunar New Year at our very own renowned Chinatown! It was so unusual because for the very first time in the history of Chinese New Year Opening Celebration in Singapore, it was the west meeting the east! Well, the main Disney character, MICKEY, was the centre of attraction. He represents the arrival of the rat year in the Chinese Zodiac calendar.

There was an air of thrill among the people who awaited for this stunning opening. Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, graced the opening and what a pleasant surprise when Mickey and his team emerged into the scene. Children squealed in delights, adults craned their necks to catch a glimpse of the all-time favourite Disney characters. The mascots really caught everyone unexpected.

What's more that is unusual? Crrraaaaacccccck!! Firecrackers!! The law was temporary 'broken' when firecrackers exploded 'illegally' in the air! :) For me, it was simply a jaw-dropping event to catch.

Another unusual event to kick off the Lunar New Year was the appearance of over 300 fearsome yet adoarble lions to perform in the lion dance! They look exceedingly awesome. With that, the spirit of an auspicious Lunar New Year was felt all over the country.

This is Isaac from Shadowawakens.blogspot.com reporting live in Chinatown. Wishing all you who are reading...a happy rat year ahead!

A difficulty i faced

When I was young, my mother hardly let me touch or fiddle with the computer at home. At that time, my family had a Windows 98 and I was only allowed to use it for 1 hour every Sunday. She was afraid that I would get addicted to using the computer. As a result, I grew up ignorant to the functions of computers. Slowly, my parents allowed me to decide for my own how much time was allowed for me to use it. Then, I was already in secondary 1.

Because of my inexperience of using the computer, now at secondary 2, creating a blog seems quite difficult. When Miss Neo told us about the blog creating as part of our CA, I went home, thrilled and started to create a blog and tried to figure out how to design the blog and add posts. I finally figured out how to go about doing it with the help of some of my friends.

I learnt many valuable lessons from this blogging experience but to me, the most important thing that I learnt is that in whatever we do, there is definitely difficulties but it's not how difficult the difficulty is but how we will ourselves to approach the odeal and proceed from there. NIL SINE LABORE!

My experience of creating a blog

Today i created the blog used for my CAs. To me, i think creating a blog for my CA is an extremely good idea! This sure changes my perspective of school. I used to think school was boring but creating a blog for grades is something new and refreshing.

My first experience of creating a blog was in Primary 4 whereby my teacher brought us to our school computer lab to create our first blog.

At that time, i was inexperienced to the field of IT(with the exception of computer games) . I created the blog and started to use it. Realising that blogging was fun, i started to create other blogs and find out information about how to edit it.

At primary 5, i somehow lost interest in blogging and did not visit my blog for a long time. Up till now i can't even remember my password.

Now, this blog created by me helped me bring back fond memories of my old blog. Even as i type all this, i realise that a blog to me is more than just a form of enjoyment and passing time but a blog is a tool of communication and a means of journal-writing where i can openly express my thoughts and my opinions.

Blogging and creating a blog is both enjoyable and exhilarating. I hope in the years to come, i will not lose interest in blogging but i would love it even more and use it to benefit my studies and improve my social interaction.

Guitar

Visions of the wondrous electric guitar i was going to buy filled my sleepy mind causing me to stay awake. I managed to shut my mind off and fall deeply asleep. The night passed fitfully and i was glad when the next day arrived.

Refreshed by the thought of my guitar, i jumped out of bed and got ready to go to school. I ate a hasty breakfast and dashed to school . Minutes seemed to pass on so slowly that i pinched myself in frustration. At the last period, a countdown started in my head and this somehow made the suspense worse. Althought it kind of made my blood pressure rise drastically, up till today, i still do not know why it made my blood pressure rise.

The bell blasted through the entire school and that is always known as the start of confusion and chaos. I rushed out of the school barely able to get a grip of myself.

Home at last. i showered and rushed off with my dad to the guitar shop. Although my dad was a guitar fanatic, he has never had a personal guitar. Sometimes i really feel very fortunate to have so many things of my interest.

Unfortunately, things got bad as it started to pour and the visibility was affected when my dad was still driving. To make matters worse, we missed a turn and had to go the longer way but eventually we made it and now i have myelectric guitar in my hand. I hope this guitar will take me to an even greater heights in my guitar-playing skills!
